4th Dharamshala International Film Festival from 5-8 November, 2015
I couldn’t thank you more for starting the fellow programme and for me it was such a life changing experience and I hope to join it every year. ~ Akee Sorokhaibam, DIFF Film Fellow 2014
After a great launch of the DIFF Film Fellows Programme last year, the 4th edition of the Dharamshala International Film Festival (DIFF) is now presenting its second edition, an initiative created to nurture the talent of young filmmakers from the Indian Himalayan regions.
At last year’s DIFF, a jury of eminent film personalities –Hansal Mehta, Anupama Srinivasan and Bina Paul, selected the five fellows from 28 applicants through a rigorous process. The winners were Akee Sorokhaibam from Manipur, Khanjan Kishore Nath from Assam, Kombong Darang from Arunachal Pradesh, Munmun Dhalaria from Himachal Pradesh and Smanla Dorje Nurboo from Ladakh. Hansal Mehta, Umesh Kulkarni and Anupama Srinivasan mentored them during their time at DIFF.
As part of the programme this year, five filmmakers will be selected to attend DIFF 2015 and participate in its various events, including screenings of the best of contemporary independent cinema, and masterclasses and workshops held by visiting filmmakers and industry professionals. The selected participants will also have the opportunity to engage in special one-on-one mentorship sessions with visiting filmmakers. The programme will cover train fares, food and lodging for the selected participants for the duration of the festival.
DIFF Film Fellows is open to anyone from one of the following regions: Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarkhand, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and the hill regions of West Bengal and Assam.
The deadline for applying to the programme is 15 September 2015.
