Chitrangada – a diploma film by Regional Government Film and Television Institute (RGFTI) students

Chitrangada is the diploma film of the 10th student batch of the Regional Government Film and Television Institute (RGFTI), Guwahati. This is a story of a lonely, alcoholic lady and a struggling writer, and how they become friends. The lady requests him to write letters for her to her lover and one day she leaves the place without informing the writer. After some years, the writer comes up with a book inspired by the lady and titles it as Chitrangada. The story is adapted from the short story “Her Lover”, written by the famous Russian author Maxim Gorky.

This diploma film is directed by Rakesh Sarma and produced by the RGFTI. The cinematographers are Prabin Basumatary and Rituparna sarma while music is handled by Amarjit Barman and Prakash Saikia. The characters are played by famous Assamese actors Himanshu Prasad Das, Trisha saikia, Neelotpal Baruah and Snigdha Gogoi. Chitrangada has been shot with 16mm camera and the DI work has been done in Filmlab, Mumbai. This film will be screened on 12th September, 2014 at 11am at Jyoti Chitraban studio complex, Guwahati.
