[Poem] Helpless | Anindita Sarma

Helpless
Helpless

She kept walking in search of faith,

Her hopes are shattered and she was surrounded by hatred.

She dreamt of love, she dreamt of happiness,

But everything turned into nothingness.

Every night she woke up with fear,

Her cheeks wet with tears.

Nobody heard those screams and cries;

No one knew what she was bearing.

She tried but couldn’t speak.

The pain was within her, from inside.

And the hands of faith dragged her to the darkness.

She tried to escape, but she was helpless.

The faces of hatred troubled her,

She screamed and cried as they tortured her.

But no one forwarded to her a helping hand,

And she stood there helpless,

And alone in the deserted land.
