“Chor – The Bicycle” – The fruit of Khanjan Kishore Nath’s beautiful imagination, his debut feature film
Among a flurry of new releases from Assamese Cinema, another fresh new project has completed its journey in the Editing studio. The film is called “Chor” and has been directed by the talented and young Khanjan Kishore Nath. Chor – The Bicycle is his first full length feature film, and his short films, most notably “Saknoia”, has garnered acclaim in national as well as international film festivals.
The film “Chor” has been shot in the scenic locals of Karbi Anglong. The story of the film is an epitome of minimalism and yet extremely sensitive and it deals with a bicycle and a bunch of children. Even before the film got on the floors, it got a chance to participate in the International Film Festival of India at Goa, organized by Film Bazar. Later, International Film Festival of Rotterdam had also invited Khanjan Kishore Nath to participate in the “Producer Lab” section of their festival. After that, the director Nath shot the film with the help of a few friends in a shoe string budget because he could not get a producer in the region. The editing part of the movie has already been completed in Guwahati. The post-production is going on in full swing in Mumbai. The director has himself written the story and the screenplay. Bikash Dutta is the editor. Cinematography was handled by Jayanth Mathabhan . Anurag Saikia has provided the background score. The film has been made under the banner of “Ramdhenu Films” and has been co-produced by Krishna Upadhaya.
Amiya Hazarika, Shasindra Nath, Jiten Bora, Purabi Saikia Bora, Gunjan Saikia, Raktim gayan. Abhilasha Kataki, Nabajit Bhuyan, Partha Bhuyan have acted in the film. “First the film will be released in international film festivals and then will be released in various cinema halls of Assam” – The director quoted.
