Daksha is a promising experimental rock band that mainly highlights the regional music of Northeast.
The band came into existence in Mumbai, a year ago when the lead vocalist Pranjal initiated the project with Himangshu, the bassist. This is when the Assamese roots united along with guitarist Dishankan and drummer Simanta and after a couple of jamming sessions, the band was ready to rumble.
Abhimaan was officially the first music video of the band which was critically acclaimed by the music fraternity. After that, there was no looking back and the band performed a number of gigs in the Northeast and all over India. Recently, Daksha played for the prestigious channel MTV Indies for the show Rhythm 8 and gained an overwhelming response. Currently, the band has geared up to launch their debut music album Voice for a Change.
Daksha comprises of four budding and dedicated members
Pranjal Medhi – Hailing from the land of Goalporiya folk music, lead vocalist Pranjal was the winner of the famous reality show Jhankaar. Currently, he has bagged some Bollywood projects and also working on Daksha’s debut music album to be released on 2nd August.
Himangshu Bora – Born and brought up in Guwahati, Himangshu the bassist had music in his genes as he came from a metal background. He was nominated at the Rolling Stone Metal Awards 2013 as one of the best bassists, also won the same title in A.E.C. Himangshu Bora is the winner of the best bass player in Yamaha Asian Beats Regional.
Dishankan Baruah – Talking about this influential guitarist, Dishankan is the backbone of Daksha. He was also the nominee at the Rolling Stone Metal Awards 2013 with the metal band Rectified Spirit. Known as one of the prolific guitarists during his college days, Dishakan had won the best guitarist award in Jorhat Engineering College and since then has not failed to impress the crowd.
Simanta Choudhury – Last but not the least, Simanta Choudhruy is the first ever Meinl Cymbals endorser from Northeast India Region. The magnificent drummer was also a part of Doorstep Casket which won the Beach Festival 2011.
