New Assamese film Zatraa by JEC students
Amidst all the never-ending assignments and study materials, a student of Jorhat Engineering College came up with a brilliant idea- to make a film. And in no time, Kaushik Bora, a final year student, gave life to his idea with the help and support of his friends and juniors, in the form of Zatraa.
Talking to Creativica, Kaushik tells us that everyone has their nurtured childhood dream and in his case it was to make a film. Even as he joined JEC, he kept his dream close and it seemed to turn into reality when he met a fellow college mate, Pranjal, who is the director of the film. And with the help of Nayan Jyoti Kashyap in preparing the screenplay, soon they set the wheels in motion. It is worth mentioning that Nayan is the only member of the crew who is not a student of JEC.
Revolving around the story of college life, friendship, smile and sorrow, “Zatraa – towards destiny” depicts four years of journey in the college. It tells the story of a guy coming from a poor background, his struggle to survive the situations and winning the love and support of his friends.
“We organised a couple of auditions and it was fun discovering the hidden talent of our college and finally, we had with us a fine crew and a versatile cast.”, said Kaushik. He also confessed that though they are all new to the field of acting, with constant effort, finally they managed to master the art of histrionics. The film has Manas Gogoi and Debojani Bora of final year in the lead role. It is also to be noted, that, much adored musician Angaraag Papon Mahanta makes a guest appearance in the film. The team also extends its gratitude towards Mrs. Pranati Phookan, Honourable Cultural Minister, Govt. Of Assam, who officially permitted the film to release over the cinemas.
Though a fixed date of release has not been announced, the film is expected to hit the theatres very soon.
