New Assamese movie ’30 October’
October 30. A dark chapter in Assam’s history. On that day in the year 2008, 18 serial bomb blasts took place in Guwahati, Barpeta Road, Bongaigaon and Kokrajhar. The explosions in Guwahati ripped through Pan Bazar, Fancy Bazar and Gnaeshguri, which were crowded with shoppers and office goers. On that day, 77 people were left dead and around 470 were either maimed or seriously injured. While someone may have lost her husband, others may well have lost their children and loved ones.
People seemed to have forgotten that ghastly incident while coping with the burdens of daily life. But it has remained fresh in the memory of those who have lost everything. For them, it’s a matter of staying alive while still coping with endless woes and miseries. The sad thing is that, till date, the families have not received any relief from the Government.
